Curtains Up Showcase Preview
Mark Ritchie writes about this annual event, which has this year moved on to pastures new, with a new home at the iconic Butlins venue in Bognor Regis. Next month we will be previewing the Showcase Productions event in Blackpool.
At the time of the inaugural Curtains Up Showcase, we had just launched this publication and I was personally invited to join the rest of the attendees. The venue was the Circus Tavern at Purfleet and Compere Miki Travis was the man in- charge on-stage.
Years have now passed and this showcase, the first ever event covered by this publication, has gone from strength to strength. I am delighted to report that UK Cabaret too has grown-up alongside it, with our web-viewing numbers alone proving to be a magnet for readers and advertisers alike.
In the intervening years, including the all too obvious hiatus period of the global pandemic, Curtain’s Up has been staged at The Genting Casino in Southend-On-Sea. I have enjoyed attending every single year and strolling down the cliff path to the seafront venue to meet friends, old and new.
This year the Curtains Up train pulls into Bognor Regis, with four sessions to enjoy, in surroundings which, if we are all being really honest, will probably lend themselves better to an event of this kind.
The experienced eyes of Katie Luff will be looking hard at proceedings and ensuring all goes well. Katie has a very impressive CV, with many past achievements working for a variety of companies.
The showcase is set to be staged on November 8th and 9th and all our readers will be able to read more about how things turned out in Bognor Regis, within the pages of our December magazine issue.
At the time of going to press there were just one or two slots available to fill, so some readers may wish to take a look at the website at www.curtainsupshowcase.com and we may just see you in Bognor Regis.
