Yorkshire clubland July 18
Thursday 14th June, Albion Street WMC Castleford presented former Pop Star Ricky Graham. Ricky was really on form tonight singing all the favourite hits of the 60’s & 70’s. There was an Irish sing-along medley thrown in for good measure too. Brilliant as usual.
From the ‘Irish Nash’ I made a short journey to the West End Wmc, Hemsworth where father and
son duo ‘Stone Cold Country’ were on stage for their final set. Ray and Steve play guitar and steel
guitar which gives them a very authentic country sound. They were very well received.
Friday 15th June, Carcroft Village Club near Doncaster. Gary Thomas is a very accomplished guitarist
and vocalist. Having previously worked in Israel for 17 years as one half of an excellent duo RE-MIX,
he is now solo. The very busy lounge enjoyed Gary’s 3 spots and his partner Sandra joined him for
one of their numbers to re-live Re-Mix! A fantastic night in Carcroft.
Saturday 16th June, Westgate Common WMC Wakefield, Marc Bolton and Louise B are a
tremendous personality duo called ‘Can You Feel It’. This show is a must for any venue and they
were very well received in Wakefield. I then made a trip to Girnhill Lane Social Club in Featherstone
near Pontefract to see Steve and Lee play guitar and keyboards respectively, and they did so very
well indeed, both share the lead vocals, they are collectively known as ’Jet’ and are quite superb
performing Rock & Pop music from the 60’s to the 90’s.
Sunday 17th June, Alpha Club Hemsworth near Pontefract had Barnsley based clubland veteran,
Jimmy Echo. He has been entertaining for 57 years as a first class guitar vocalist. Occasionally
throwing in a few cheeky one liners, he never fails to impress. He was on top form tonight. I then
made a short journey to Shafton Village Club near Barnsley to see Cat Diva who had travelled all
the way from Cheshire. Cat also doubles up as a Kylie Minogue tribute and was excellent at Shafton.
Thursday 7th June, West End Wmc Hemsworth, Lloyd’s Country Music Club. From Ipswich, but now
residing in Doncaster, we have Brian Mann. He is a very laid back guitar vocalist who performes a
wide variety of songs. Thursday nights are going very well at this venue.
Friday 8th June, Copper Beach Club Baildon near Bradford hosted Charlie Grace. She is an excellent
personality vocalist from Doncaster and had the locals in the palm of her hand. Performing Rock &
Pop from the 60’s to the present day, an excellent night was had by one and all.
Saturday 9th June, Meadow Farm Pub and restaurant Ecclesfield near Sheffield. Roxanne Powers is
a very bubbly and lively personality vocalist from Pontefract. She performed songs from the 60’s to
the present day. This lady just gets better and better. A superb artist.
Sunday 10th June, Albion WMC Hemsworth near Pontefract. Chris Lewis is a very versatile vocalist
performing Pop, Rock & Soul from the 60’s to the present day, another very busy Sunday night in the
Top Hat club.
Tuesday 12th June Swillington Miners Welfare near Castleford hosted Roadhouse. This soft Rock
duo are Neil on guitar and Rik on keyboards. These guys are both well established musicians and
really do get those feet tapping to everyones favourite Rock songs. Well done lads.
